New Year's Resolutions

Seems that everyone has the same resolutions each year ie. lose weight, spend less, work out more, be happier, focus on family. We all do well for the first week or two and then the will power gives out and we are reliving last year all over again!!

I vow to make this year different!!! "SIMPLIFY" IS MY MOTTO!!! Just going to live without as much stuff as we all seem to think we need. Instead of accumulating I am eliminating!!! This will hopefully work through all aspects of my life. Eliminating waste and the waist, eliminating leftovers from the fridge and leftovers from projects! The really great part of this is that if I am successful...I will come out skinnier, happier, healthier, wealthier, and will have a much cleaner house.

Knowing that at any time Uncle Sam can readjust my lifestyle with the snap of his fingers, I am vowing to be prepared! Truly tired of opening boxes from a move and sealing them back up for lack of anything better to do with the "stuff". This next move we will make our weight allowance!!! YEAH!!!

Here's to hoping that I can make this work...we shall see!

Happy 2009!!!

Thought I might work on a quilt project today and then the big stack of "this and that" got in the way. Where does all of the paperwork come from?? If anyone can answer that for me I would love to know!! I try to stand over the shredder and the garbage can each day when the mail arrives, but it's overwhelming. Stacks here and stacks there...UUUUGGGHHH!!! My goal for 2009 is to lose all sorts of weight...ie. body weight, magazine weight, paperwork weight, excess clutter weight, pantry weight...starting to feel sorry for the garbage can. My motto for '09 is "SIMPLIFY". Just need to decide where to start...I think in the office first. Going to make a few lists of "need to accomplish" items and ATTACK!! Hoping that I can win the battle over excess and truly downsize life...it really is amazing how Americans love to supersize things. While I'm thinking about it I'm going to make a list of things I want to do over the next year...read more, watch less tv, take more walks, volunteer more, complain less. Well, better start writing.

Well it's my first blog and away I go. Guess I'm having my own personal pity party today because it's Christmas and it's 74 degrees. Having grown up surrounded by family and snow for the holidays it's really hard to adapt sometimes. Tried everything I could think of to get into the Christmas spirit but I struck out this season. Normally we trek to Utah for the holidays but this year Uncle Sam wasn't in a cooperative mood. So, as I spend only the second Christmas in my lifetime away from my family I thought...why not start a blog.
